Welcome to my home!! The entryway area in your house is the first space people see, SO let’s make them cozy and showcase your style.
In colder-weather locations, many home have what is called a “cold entry”. As you will notice in the pictures, this is what I have in the fixer upper house. It is essentially a small room you walk into, with another door opposite the front door, to keep the cold air out of the main area of the home. Here is where I utilized a bench – functional AND looks great!
My style is a little country hence “farmhouse” so I first selected the long wood bench (I have the 88″) for this space. Once I found it, I styled out the rest of the room. I used a wood “welcome” sign with hooks, coffee table books, faux dried grasses, a throw pillow (for looks) and a bunch of different size baskets. We tend to use the larger baskets for shoes/slippers when going in and out of the front door. The newest addition to this space is the muted black rug. It is from a brand I absolutely love as all of their products are great prices AND machine washable!! These rugs are perfect for high traffic areas. I have a runner in my kitchen and I just ordered a huge one for Ford’s play room.
When you walk through the cold entry you come to an oversized hallway. Instead of looking at a blank wall, I decided to decorate it with a long narrow console table. Again, I started with the main furniture piece, the rustic table. Once that was selected I designed around it. We had the Magnificent 7 Cowboy Art from our previous modern farmhouse and both Luke and I thought this would be the perfect piece to put over the table. You see it immediately when you walk in the home. I get asked frequently about this piece of art so here are the details: artist: Russel Young, gallery: Ashcroft Art, size: 36″x62″ . Unfortunately I can’t link it however I found the same print from a vendor on Etsy here.
I styled out the console table with numerous black and white coffee table books, a marble tray to place keys (sold out – similar here), candle sticks to add some height (sold out – similar option here), faux greenery for a bit of color, a family photo to make it personal and a few fun knick knacks. To bring in the cozy element I added two knit baskets and a pom pom throw underneath the table. Again I went with a rug from Ruggable as this is a high traffic hallway.
See blow to shop all of my items. I’ve also rounded up great DEAL options for benches and console tables. Happy entryway stying!
