Hey y’all! I first want to THANK YOU guys for all of the sweet messages and support about baby number two. We are SO excited to bring this little one into the world. Since I’ve been receiving a bunch of questions about this go around, I thought I’d do a Q&A post. See below where I answer all of your questions. Feel free to leave a comment on this blog post if you have another one. I’m happy to answer! xx

Pregnancy Q&A

Were you trying for a second baby?

Yes we were! We are very fortunate it happened quickly.

Has your second felt different than the first?

So far they are pretty similar. The only major different is I was naseuated 24/7 my first trimester!! I never got a break!

Any pregnancy skincare recommendations?

I will be sharing some new products during this pregnancy soon! If you missed my pregnancy safe skincare posts from the first go around, check them out here: morning routine, nighttime routine, makeup, acne and clean beauty.

What prenatal are you taking?

Riutal – I love it!! AND it doesn’t hurt my stomach. Very important during my first trimester.

Are you getting botox while pregnant?

No. I stay away from botox and fillers while pregnant and breastfeeding. This is the recommendation of my esthetician/nurse.

How did you manage your sickness during the first trimester?

Well… it was pretty rough. I took B6, drank peppermint tea and had fresh ginger constantly. I rested when I could and ate plain foods to help with feeling sick. This go around was pretty hard with a child under one. I couldn’t really nap/rest as much as I did the first time. A day at a time – I got through it!

What workouts did you do the first trimester?

It was definitely hit or miss depending on how I was feeling. My goal during pregnancy is to move my body 4-5 times a week. Sometimes I achieved this during the first trimester, and other times, I did not. My favorite exercises to do while pregnant are strength building not cardio. I prefer Barre3, pilates on the reformer and Peloton strength classes. I stream Barre3 and Peloton from home.

Did you drink coffee – if so, how much?

I did not my first trimester. I had a major aversion. I remember this with my first pregnancy as well. Once I hit 14 weeks, I could finally tolerate it again! I don’t drink coffee for the caffeine – more about the flavor. I have one half-calf cup of coffee in the morning.

Are you going to reveal the gender (sex)?

Yes! I plan to post on Instagram this weekend.

Have you taken a genetic test?

Yes. I had my blood drawn for the Harmony test at 10 weeks. This is also how we know the sex of the baby so early.

How long did you wait until you told your family?

We told our parents at 6 weeks and the majority of our close friends around 10-12 weeks. I was so excited!!

Do you have a name picked out?

NO! haha Names are hard for me, so it’s going to take us a minute to figure one out.

What if anything are you doing different this time?

So far, nothing. I’m taking the same supplements, doing similar exercising, eating well (now) and plan on having a home birth. My experience the first pregnancy was really incredible. If you missed my blog posts on my different trimesters check them out here: first, second and third. I’m sure as I go through this a few things will change.

What are your favorite maternity clothes?

For this pregnancy, I don’t know yet. I haven’t started wearing maternity clothes. I will share favorite once I’m further down the road! I do have a post about my favorite brands/items from my first pregnancy here.

What is your favorite pregnancy legging?

I have two and will probably have more as I start to grow and try new leggings out. [1] BLANQI for everyday and [2] SPANX for a dressier pair.

What did you eat your first trimester?

Ummmmm, CARBS!! LOL I have received this question a lot from first time mamas. I get it, you are super healthy and then bam… nothing sounds good! Rather than eating complete shit, I kept it simple. Sourdough toast with butter, plain rice, oatmeal, soups and fruit (apples, oranges and bananas). I didn’t eat fried/fast food or refined sugar. Finally when I was around 13 weeks I started to crave my healthy diet again! Hello, vegetables!! 🙂

Do you watch what you eat while pregnant or eat whatever you want?

As you can see in the question above, no and yes. I allowed myself to eat what sounded “good” when I wasn’t feeling well, however I kept it simple. I did not eat pure crap 24/7. Give yourself some grace, the first trimester is ROUGH!! You’ll get back to yourself soon!

Are you nervous about having less time with Ford when the new baby arrives?

I haven’t thought too much about this. I tend to take things a day at a time. I spend a lot of time with Ford now and enjoy each moment. When we have another little around, it will bring even more love and joy into our home. I can’t wait!

Are you doing a home birth again?

That’s the plan! I have started to see my Midwife for my monthly appointments. I just LOVE her and had the best experience during my first pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I’ll share more about this journey as I go through it again. If you missed my Birth Plan and Birth Story posts from baby number 1, check them out here and here.

  1. Hi – congratulations! Can you share what pregnancy pillow you use. I thought I saw you point it out on Instagram but I don’t see it. Must have been a temporary story.
    Thank you!

  2. Hello! Congratulations!!!!! I was wondering your take on ultrasounds? What weeks you did it and how many ultrasounds you previously got and plan to get. I have heard mixed things about ultrasounds. Thank you!

    • Hi JJ. I got one with my doctor initially to check on the baby. It may be the only one I do for this pregnancy. During my first I did the initial ultra sound and the 20 week one. xx

  3. Ahhhhh!!!! I don’t have any questions.. I’m just so excited!! I feel like WE’RE having a baby 😂 and WE’RE having a girl. I just know it! I can’t wait to see your black & neutral vibes on a baby girl. I’m dying 😍

  4. Hello,

I was wondering if you or Luke may have any suggestions on Snow Shoes for my adult daughter. I know it may be a personal choice but I was hoping to get her a pair for Christmas and don’t know where to start.

Thanks and congrats on baby #2!!!!!
