SPRING is finally here and it is in full BLOOM in southern Cali!  You could say I am one happy lady 🙂  Going to my local farmers market was first on the agenda this past weekend.  I LOVE flowers… like my obsession is on another level, hehe.  They are SO purrrrdy and I love having them around the house.  Let’s be honest, they just make a room more beautiful!  My girlfriend, Gaby, came over to play with me and we had a lovely afternoon of building blooms.  Easter is coming up this weekend and these flowers would be the perfect addition to your brunch table!

I always go for pink-toned flowers but what says happy more than sunflowers?!  This Kansas girl has a soft spot for these yellow blooms.  I found some sunflowers that were pretty much the size of my head so ya, they were definitely going home with me.  I decided on a bright color palette of pinks and yellows, also perfect for Easter.  Once I got home from the farmers market, the building began.  First up I taped my vase in a square grid (see image above).  This is an easy lil’ trick so you flowers stay in place.  You can also use foam (see my Valentine’s Day blooms) but taping is a great alternative.  I started by picking a few of the larger blooms, also what I call the “statement pieces”, as my main focal points of the arrangement.  Next up I filled in with smaller flowers, mixing up the colors.  I build as I go, move things around until I’m happy with the shape and last but not least, have FUN with it!

Happy Spring BLOOM building! Mauh!
