Well guys, I finally tried my first CO2 laser. I’m turning 40 in just a few weeks (yikes! JK 😉 ), and I wanted to try a resurfacing laser. I have done IPL, BBL, RF, Softwave and microneedling BUT not a CO2. I did not want to do the super intense one because I don’t think I need to yet. This is why I chose the CoolPeel over the Helix/Halo. It’s described as the “baby” version. Essentially it’s on the same machine as the Helix CO2, just turned down.
I was told that there is minimal downtime, but in my case, I needed about 4 days at home. I blew up like a blowfish day 2-4, however I did not take an antihistamine until day 3 as well as starting vinegar soaks. This combo helped A LOT and I highly recommend doing. I also did my entire upper body: face, neck, chest, arms and hands. This could be why I more sensitive??
I did a video of my 7 days post laser recovery on Instagram here. You can see a closer look at the healing process as well as check out the graphic above. I also have a highlight for all of the stories shared about it here.

CoolPeel is a non-ablative CO2 laser treatment that provides skin rejuvenation including: improving texture, reducing fine lines, shrinking pore size and targeting sun damage. It stimulates natural collagen production with minimal downtime, discomfort, or risk of side effects, offering a tighter, younger-looking, and more radiant complexion.
Targets uneven texture, sun damage, pore size and reduces fine lines while tightening skin and improving tone.
I’ve read a few days, BUT in my case it was about 4 solid days until the swelling went down and the layer of skin was almost all the way sloughed off.
Not at all. I used numbing cream on my face, neck and chest. I ended up adding my arms and hands while in the session. I did that with no numbing cream and it did not hurt. Immediately after the treatment it felt like an intense sunburn. More tight and uncomfortable but not painful.
No pain. I’d say the first day was uncomfortable because it feels like a sunburn – hot and tight. Once you get over that hump, it was a piece of cake. In my experience, I looked way worse than it felt.
Keeping the skin hydrated and not getting in the sun. My practitioner recommended the Epicutis Lipid Serum and an ointment balm. She also suggested taking an antihistamine if I started to swell + vinegar soaks. I ended up doing all of the above because my face blew up 🙂
I used the Epicutis Lipid Serum and either a cream or balm overtop. It’s important to keep it hydrated. WAY more than you think!
1 teaspoon distilled vinegar, 1 cup filtered water, organic cotton wash cloth or gauze. I soaked the wash cloths in the vinegar/water solution and then put them in the fridge to cool. When they were chilled I rung out the excess solution in the bag, BUT still want it pretty soaked (just not dripping). Lay down (so they don’t fall off) and put the cloths on your face for 20 minutes. This helped SO much with the swelling and sloughing.
The glow that comes from it is almost immediate – 7 days post laser. The larger benifits stated above can take anywhere from 3-6 months. So we will see…
My face, neck and chest was. $1,300. I ended up adding on my arms and hands for $1,000.
