Hi y’all!
If there’s one area of our home where low-tox living has made the biggest difference in how we feel every day, it’s the bedroom. After switching to cleaner bedding, both Luke and I noticed better sleep, fewer skin irritations, and that calm, cozy feeling that makes crawling into bed at night actually restorative — especially after chasing two busy boys around the mountains all day.
I’m sharing my current favorite non-toxic bedding pieces — the ones I reach for season after season because they’re beautiful, breathable, and free from the harsh chemicals found in many conventional sheets and comforters.
These are my everyday essential. I love crisp, organic or GOTS-certified 100% cotton sheets in neutral tones (oatmeal, white, or soft taupe). They’re naturally breathable, get softer with every wash, and don’t trap heat like synthetic blends can.
Why I love them: They feel clean and fresh against the skin, and I don’t have to worry about hidden finishes or synthetic fibers.
A game-changer for hair and skin! I use 100% mulberry silk pillowcases in a soft ivory or warm beige. They reduce friction, help prevent hair breakage, and keep my skin from drying out overnight.
They also look so pretty layered on the bed and hold up beautifully wash after wash.
For that perfect lived-in, textured look I love, I layer a lightweight linen quilt in the warmer months and a linen duvet cover when it gets cooler. Linen is naturally antibacterial, temperature-regulating, and gets softer and more beautiful with age.
I stick to undyed or low-impact dyed linen in warm neutrals so it fits seamlessly into our mountain home aesthetic.
To finish the bed, I add linen euro shams (usually in a slightly different texture or tone) and a few decorative pillows in soft linen or subtle patterns. They make the bed feel collected and cozy without looking overdone.
These are the pieces I style and restyle — they instantly elevate the room while staying low-tox and family-friendly.
For those chilly mountain nights, a natural wool blanket is my go-to throw at the end of the bed. Wool is naturally temperature-regulating, moisture-wicking, and antimicrobial — so it stays fresh longer than synthetic throws.
I love the texture and the way it adds that extra layer of warmth without feeling heavy.
The pillow I actually sleep on every night is this adjustable shredded memory foam pillow. It’s hypoallergenic, CertiPUR-US certified (which means it’s made without harmful chemicals), and I love that I can add or remove fill to get the exact loft and support I need.
It’s breathable, doesn’t trap heat, and has been a quiet game-changer for neck comfort — especially on nights when I’ve been carrying kids or working at my desk too long. I cover it with my favorite silk pillowcase.
Our bedrooms are where we spend nearly one-third of our lives. Choosing materials that are free from flame retardants, synthetic dyes, and chemical finishes means we’re breathing cleaner air and giving our bodies a break while we rest and recover. Plus, these natural fibers just feel better — softer, cooler in summer, warmer in winter, and they create that serene sanctuary vibe I crave.
Everything here is simple, beautiful, and performs well with real family life (including occasional little feet jumping on the bed!).
If you’re ready to upgrade your bedding, start with one piece — maybe the sheets or a silk pillowcase — and build from there. Small swaps really do add up to better sleep and peace of mind.
Have you made any non-toxic bedding swaps yet? Which one has been your favorite? Tell me in the comments — I’m always collecting ideas from the SBK tribe!

With love from our cozy mountain bedroom, Kasey ✨
