Black & White Modern Farmhouse Kid Bathroom

Hello, boos!  I’m excited to share my first interior post of the new house!  Let’s do it!

Many of y’all have been asking questions about the new casa on Instagram and I’m happy to say, all of the details of each room and space will be coming to the blog on a weekly basis.  Let’s start with one of my fave bathrooms in the house – the black and white bunk bath!

It all started with a floor… no really, it did!  This bathroom will eventually be for kiddos, so I wanted to have fun with it.  At first, I was going to use small penny tile to personalized the floor with our last name, “Dixon”, but opted to use baby hex instead.  I LOVE how it turned out!  We are planning on having this house forever so I thought why not have a custom touch… amiright?!

We also added the baby hex black tiles to a the shower insert for a little extra pop of black (see pic below).  Details like this are what make my heart sing! LOL 🙂  We paired the hexagon beauties with classic farmhouse subway tile for the shower walls and exterior of the tub.  I suggest Adding it to the outside of the tub to add a bit more character to the bathroom.  Again, loved how it turned out!  I decided not to add glass to the shower/tub but rather a black rod with a linen curtain.  As I mentioned above, this is going to be a kids room one day and easy access to a tub is key when they are little. 😉  If you’re like me, I don’t particularly care for shower curtains, but I finally found one I liked here.  The tassel detail and neutral linen fabric is perfect for this space.

Next up, let’s talk lighting!  Since the bathroom was for the most part black and white, I wanted to have a few pops of metallic.  The copper fixture we ended up selecting definitely fit the bill!  Once we found it, I could start decorating the space with other rose gold decor items.  My balloon animal and crystal box were both, great touches of metallic and mixed well with the fixture.

As for faucets in the bunk bath and all bathrooms in the house, we went with a flat black finish from Newport Brass.  The master being the only room with a different faucet style.  I will say it very hard to find actual BLACK faucets, most being a rubbed bronze finish.  I’m happy to report Newport Brass has a beautiful black option – YAY!

If you’re on the hunt for towels for a bathroom with a decent price and quality fabric, I suggest World Market and H&M Home.  I used towels from each retailer in this bathroom.  The chevron being from WM and tassel option from H&M. If you haven’t noticed, I like neutrals, so I kept the towels white/cream but loved how each has a texture.  It feels v farmhousey to me!
