Hey there! Today I’m sharing a small living room space in my home that I frequently receive questions about. I will be giving y’all the deets on my furniture and decor. Let’s get into it…
If you have a small seating area and/or smaller space living room, this furniture will be great for you! I lived in California for 10+ years in teeny tiny apartments, so you can better believe I know how to style them! 😉 In my new home in Idaho we had a small space, essentially at the end of the kitchen, that I wanted to make into a sitting room. Everyone tends to hang out around the heart of the home, the kitchen, so it was important for me to find items that were functional, cozy and would last.
I started looking for a smaller farmhouse style sofa and knew I wanted to go with a neutral color palette per the rest of my home. I found this 6′ beaut at of course, Restoration Hardware. Since a couch is what I call, a foundation piece of a home, I had no problem spending more money on it. The quality is excellent and will hold up for many years to come. See below for all of my furniture details. If you are looking for budget-friendly sofa dupes, check out these options: one & two!
Now that I had my couch selected, I needed to find 2 accent chairs and 2 stools. The more seating, the better! I luckily had all of these in my previous LA condo and they fit perfectly. The chairs are also from Restoration Hardware. I love the natural textile, durability and comfort. Luke was actually the one that picked them out and applaud him for doing such a great job! 😉 We have had them for 5+ years and the chairs have worn wonderfully. I wanted to add in another texture into this space, yet keep with my neutral colors, so I placed my sheepskin stools under the TV. Overall the furniture fit in the space nicely, creating a well balanced room.
It was time to finish off the furniture in the sitting area with a few tables – coffee and side. I wanted to add an element of wood and the round grayish/brown coffee table was it. Mixed with the iron base, the table was a great fit for my modern farmhouse style. I finally used an oldie but good trunk side table from Pottery Barn next to the sofa. This side table adds a great rustic touch and good news, it is currently on SALE!
The space came together beautifully, all centered on one of my favorite 8×10′ natural jute rugs. If I were to recommend ONE neutral rug, this would be it! It’s a great price, doesn’t shed and is very durable. Lastly it was time to decorate!! I used coffee table books, faux flowers and plants, trays, baskets, blankets, pillows and more!
