Layered Garland Holiday Staircase

Hey oh! Now that I’m done decorating my Christmas tree, I am tackling other areas of my home. Today I’m sharing the layered holiday staircase decor I put together. It took me a few different attempts, using various garlands, and now I’m very happy with the way it turned out!

This year I used TWO different garlands. Don’t be afraid to mix them! Since I wanted a fuller look, I layered on three per section – one Amazon (bottom) and two Afloral. In total, I used seven. Six on the main part of the railing (2 sections) and one down the bottom where the bells are hung.

Rather than securing the garland to the railing with command hooks/cords like in previous years, I opted for zip ties. These are SO easy to use and your decor/garland will NOT budge! I applied them on the two ends and middle of each garland.

After all of the garland was hung I added a set of bells at the bottom of the stairs. Next up I tied bows with my velvet wired ribbon evenly along the railing. Lastly I layered on wooden beads (oldies); also securing with zip ties. Make sure to cut the excess zip tie and cover/hide the zip ties with the garland.

See below for links to what I used and more detailed images. Video tutorial coming to Instagram. Happy decorating!
