BBL Laser Details

Hi babes! I’m SO excited to share my experience with the BBL laser and my results.

As I mentioned in my last post, Flawless Skin, I’ve been on a journey to achieve clear skin.  I have struggled with major adult acne, redness, broken capillaries, dark spot and sun damage.  I finally have a good skincare routine down, but I wanted to take it a step further and find a laser that would help even out my skin, lighten my spots all while helping the overall texture of my face.  BBL was it, y’all!!

I partnered up with PURE Medical Spa, a local Idaho spot, to zip and zap my face!  I have done IPL, a similar laser, 3 times before but found it to be much more painful and a longer down time.  Ok, ok so what is the BBL laser all about…

What is BBL?

The BBL laser is often called photo rejuvenation or photo facial.  It is the new gold-standard for the treatment of:

hyperpigmentation

sun-damage

rosacea

vascular lesions

active acne

collagen rejuvenation for improved skin texture and tone

How Does it Work?

It takes about 30 minutes for your face.  You can request numbing cream prior to the treatment but honestly, I don’t think it’s needed.  I opted out and would do the same again.  I didn’t think this laser was painful.  It basically feels like little flicks on your face.  Before starting the procedure, you will put on some type of goggle over your eyes to protect you from the light.  The technician will then apply a cooling gel to your face and start the procedure.  The tip of the laser is a crystal and has cooling properties, which helps with any discomfort you may have.  My amazing nurse, Carey, did two passes on my face and then spot treated certain areas where I had more sun damage and broken capillaries.  If you want to see a video of me getting mine done, head over to my Instagram and click on the “SKIN” highlight.

Immediately after the treatment, I could see my spots darken and sun-damage from underneath my skin start to come to the surface.  It was CRAZY… in like, a very good way!!  Over the next week more pigmentation came to the surface, looking like coffee grounds, and then legit, fell off.  The week following the laser, I just moisturized, moisturized and moisturized some more!

Is There Down Time?

My short answer is, no.  I would say the day you get it, you most likely would want to go home and chill.  I prefer not putting makeup on right after but you could.  In the following days after the procedure, it was very easy to cover with makeup .  If you take a look at my day 1 and 2 images above, these were the two days my spots were the darkest.

How Many Treatments Do You Need?

You many notice a change in your skin after only one treatment as I did – see images above.  They usually recommend 3-5 treatments depending on your skin.  I am looking forward to doing a few more this year.

What does it Cost?

On average the cost for one treatment on your face is around $350.
