Botox & Filler Details

Hey there, babes! If you’ve been following along on my Instagram, you saw I just went to Crafted Beauty yesterday to see my girl Melissa. I was due for a little help in the face department – botox and fillers, pretty please!! 🙂 It’s been over a year and half since doing anything because I was pregnant and breastfeeding. Mama was readyyyy!

I received a lot of questions so I wanted to answer them here. I know many of you want to get botox and/or fillers and I’m here to keep it 100! Remember ladies (and gents), do YOU! It makes me happy to have a smooth forehead and plumped lips so ya, I’m gonna do it! 🙂 See below for questions and answers.

Q&A

How old were you when you started?

I was 30 when I started – I’m 34. I had fine lines in my forehead and crows feet area. It is preventative as it essentially freezes the muscle so it doesn’t move. Helping to decrease deep lines over time. I love that is softens the skin.

Can you do botox and fillers when breastfeeding?

No. I waited until I was done breastfeeding. I’ve heard varying opinions but I’d rather be safe.

How long does botox last?

It varies. For me it’s about 4 months.

Where do you get botox?

You can typically get it in 3 areas: forehead, frown (also called the 11) and crows feet. I get it in all. I really love the crows feet area – smooths it out and makeup lays better. I didn’t do this until I was 32. I talk about this in more detail on this blog post.

How many units of botox do you get?

It varies. This week after not doing it for over a year and half (preg/BF), I got 47 units: 20 between brows, 9 in forehead and 9 around each eye (crows feet).

What’s the cost of botox?

The average cost is around $13 per unit.

Is botox painful?

No. It feels like a little prick. Keep in mind, I have a high pain tolerance 😉

What product did you use in your lips?

Juvéderm Ulta

How much Juvéderm did you get in your lips?

1 syringe

What product did you use on your cheeks?

Restylane Lyft

How much Restylane Lyft did you get in your cheeks?

2 (1/cheek)

Do you swell?

My lips and cheeks did. It took about a week for my cheeks to settle in and about 3 weeks for my cheeks to fully soften.

How long does filler last?

Typically 12-18 months.

What’s the cost of lip filler?

Average is $700 for 1 unit (syringe)

Is it painful?

Yes and no… it’s a much more sensitive area than where you get botox. The first few times I did it, I was not numb and it hurt. BUT it was worth it! 🙂 This past week I had topical numbing, and it helped a lot! Barely felt it.

Do you bruise?

I’ve never bruised on my lips but I have in a few spot on my forehead with botox. It goes away in a few days. Remember, everyone is different.

Have you done your under eyes?

I have! I love it – helped me not look as tired. I did not do it this week – it lasts a long time for me. More about it on this blog post.

Who do I go to?

I just went to Melissa (The Beauty Nurse) at her spot, Crafted Beauty! It was THE best experience I’ve ever had. Her staff was incredible, informative, calming, caring and perfectionist!! I’m here for it! I can’t say enough good things about my time with her! Thanks to Mel for helping this mama out! 🙂
