Hey hey, y’all!! What’s better than a holiday simmer pot to fill the house of Christmas scents?! ‘Tis the season! Today I’m sharing a simple an easy recipe to create a festive simmer pot (potpourri) this season.
Y’all know I’m about a healthy home, and that means being mindful of toxins in products. Over the years I’ve become much more aware of items that give off harsh chemicals – i.e. cleaning supplies, cookware, trash bags and more. Unfortunately one of those items is candles. SO if you’re looking for a non-toxic scent for your home, a simmer pot is a great option!
I love making this on weekends starting in November through Christmas. It makes a great addition to a holiday party!
See below for a list of ingredients and steps to make.
1 cup fresh cranberries
1 sliced orange
2 springs of rosemary
3 cinnamon sticks
2 star anise
1 tablespoon whole cloves
1. Fill pot with 5 cups of water – about 3/4 of the way up. Here’s the link to my glass pot.
2. Place all ingredients into the pot in this order: cranberries, sliced orange, rosemary sprigs, cinnamon sticks, star anise and cloves. Bring to a boil. Let boil for 2 minutes.
3. Turn heat to simmer. Let sit for a few hours and give your home a yummy holiday scent!
