Pregnancy No. Skincare Details

Hi there, mamas! I wanted to take the time to detail the skincare I am applying during this pregnancy. Today I’m sharing my morning and nighttime routine as well as body products, face tools and masks I’m currently using. Please note that your don’t need to be pregnant to use these products as I use most of them when I’m not. They are all “clean” beauty favorites!

As I discussed in the blog posts during my first pregnancy, I took A LOT of time to do research on “safe’ products and have found some wonderful resources. One being the 15 Minute Beauty Blog written by a doctor. She has SO much information on this topic and even breaks down numerous brands for safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding. I have found it very helpful.

Here’s a quick list of the ingredients I avoid during pregnancy: Benzoyl Peroxide, Fragrance, BPA, Hydroquinone, Formaldehyde, Parabens, Phthalates, Retinoids, Salicylic Acid, Willow Bark, Thioglycolic Acid, Chemical Sunscreens, Botulinum Toxin, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Diazolidinyl Urea.

I use products I feel are clean and safe for me to use during my pregnancy, however I am NOT a doctor and I am not giving you all medical advice. Simply sharing my favorites! Do what you feel is right for you, your body and your growing baby.

Below I’m sharing details about each product. Note: I may have a few products I like for the same thing, i.e. I have a three tinted moisturizers I love. If that’s the case, I linked multiple options. Please leave a comment if you have a question!

Morning Routine Products & Steps

[1] Exfoliate – ZO Exfoliating Polish: The ZO exfoliator is a TOP 10 beauty item of mine. I can’t live without it. The exfoliation is gentle enough you can use it every single day and it leaves your skin SO smooth. I like to keep it in the shower and give my face a 30 second scrub in the morning.

[2] Hyaluronic Acid – PCA Skin Hyaluronic Acid Boosting Serum: This is my first step in hydration. I’ve been using it for 3 year now and have seen great results. I live in a very dry climate so adding this serum has helped to keep my skin full of moisture.

[3] Vitamin C – M-61 Vitablast C Serum Pads or SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF: I alternate between these two products. Both are a bit spendy but worth the moolah. C is great for brightening and lightening brown spots (hyperpigmentation). This is one of my main skin issues so I will always be using a quality vitamin C.

[4] Moisturizer – Mara Algae Universal Face Oil or Epionce Medical Barrier Cream: I LOVE both of these products. Sometimes I use one or both if I want to pack on the hydration. If you looking for a universal oil that is great with acne prone skin (like mine), this Mara option is wonderful. I also can’t say enough great things about the cream. It feels like butter on your face!

[5] Eye Cream – Bobby Brown Hydrating Eye Cream: You can’t forget about your sensitive under eye skin. I’m a big fan of using a cream in the morning prior to wearing makeup. This helps the skin stay hydrated and fresh all day long. When you apply concealer over the Bobby Brown cream it doesn’t flake!! YAY!

[6] Tinted Moisturizer – Epionce Daily Shield Lotion Tinted SPF 50, EltaMD UV Elements Tinted SPF44 or BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30: As you can see I like a lot of different tinted moisturizer AND have tried probably 10. My all-time favorite CC cream is one of the only skincare products I can’t use during pregnancy. This is because it uses chemical sunscreen. My current favorite and new find this pregnancy is the Epionce option. It has a medium tint and feels great on the skin!

Nighttime Routine Products & Steps

[1] Face Cloth – M-61 Perfect Cleansing Cloth: I start with this cloth to get my face as clean as possible. It’s very gentle vitamin E, lavender and green tea.

[2] Face Wash – One Love Organics Vitamin B Enzyme Cleansing Oil: This face wash is my favorite I’ve ever used. I essentially give myself a mini face message at night and it takes off my makeup so easily! It’s gentle and does NOT dry out my skin! Major win!

[3] Acne – Acne Spot Treatment – Epionce Purifying Spot Gel Blemish Clearing and/or COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patches: If I am breaking out, which is ALWAYS during this pregnancy, I use one or both of these products. The Epionce spot gel is a new find that I’m loving. I pat it on my acne and let dry. If I’m looking for more, I place a COSRX patch over the pimple to wear overnight.

[4] Eye Cream – M-61 Hydraboost Eye Concentrate: I go the extra mile with hydration at night so I can really let my products penetrate my skin as I sleep. I’m a big fan of M-61 and this is one of the items in their line I can’t live without. Lucky for me it’s “clean” so I can use during pregnancy.

[5] Moisturizer – Epionce Medical Barrier Cream: This is the same cream I use in the morning. It’s pack full of hydration so I like to wear it at night as well. Such a great product!

[6] Lips – LANEIGE Sleeping Mask: Can’t forget about your lippies! I’ve raved about this product for years. I apply it each night before I go to bed and so does Luke! 😉 hehe

Body Products

Belly Oil – Zoe Organics Belly Oil: The ONE product you can’t live without when pregnant, BELLY OIL! I was a huge fan of Zoe Organics during my first pregnancy and of course, am using it again. It does not have a strong smell and really does the job. My belly stays hydrated all day and night!

Body Lotion – M-61 Hydraboost Body Butter or Nécessaire The Body Lotion: I’m big fan of both of these overall body lotions. They both have no fragrance, which I prefer when pregnant or not, and are super hydrating.

Self-Tanner – Beauty by Earth Self Tanner or Lux Unfiltered Hydrating Gradual Self-Tanning Cream: I’ve used Beauty by Earth for a few years now regardless if I’m pregnant. It definitely has a “tan” smell however I don’t mind it. I typically use it on my legs and I love the sun kissed color it gives me. I aways apply with a self tanning glove. My other option by Lux Unfiltered is a new gradual self-tanner I’ve been trying out. I LOVE it!

Body Wash – Nécessiare The Body Wash: You can’t go wrong with any Nécessiare products as they are all “clean” and so refreshing. I’m a big fan of the Eucalyptus wash.

Body Exfoliator – Nécessaire The Body Exfoliator or Herbivore Coco Rose Body Polish: I use both of these product throughout the week. I typically use Nécessaire once and Herbivore a few times. This helps to keep my dry skin feeling hydrated and it’s especially nice for the growing belly.

Deodorant – Native Deodorant Coconut Vanilla: I’ve been a big Native deodorant wearer for 5+ years. My favorite scent is the coconut vanilla. It’s not too overpowering and keeps me smelling fresh.

Dry Brush – Wholesome Beauty Dry Skin Body Brush: If you don’t dry brush, you should! It’s the best thing I started doing for my body a few years ago. My skin used to get extremely dry and itchy (regardless of pregnancy) and now, NO more! The benefits of dry brushing are: stimulate the lymphatic system, exfoliate the skin (my favorite), helping rid the body of toxins, increasing circulation and helping breakdown cellulite. YAS please! I dry brush when I get out of the shower. My body is clean and I literally brush my skin from my feet toward my heart in an upward motion. I don’t use any product hence “dry” brush. It feel a bit intense at first but trust me, you will begin to like it! I do it about 3 times a week. See what works for you!

Face Tools

Steamer – Vanity Planet Aira Ionic Facial Steamer: If ya’ll have been watching my Instagram stories you’ve seen me use this steam and the below wand. I’ve really stepped up my at home spa game with these product. I like to steam before I use the microdermabrasion wand and/or apply a face mask. It really help product get deeper into the skin, which allows for better results! I highly recommend this!

Microdermabrasion Wand – Vanity Planet Exfora Personal Microdermabrasion Wand: As I mentioned above, this really took my self-care sessions up a notch. I love the fact I have my own personal wand to give myself the treatment AT HOME! It’s a lot less expensive than going to the spa!! Microdermabrasion is essentially a deep exfoliation. Again, sign me up! Anything to blast off my face! LOL The wand suctions away dead skin cells that clog your pores, leading to inflammation, spots, blackheads and acne breakouts. It also stimulates the skin promoting circulation, accelerating skin tissues development and collagen production. I use this wand once a week.

Dermaplaning Tool – Stacked Skincare Dermaplaning Tool: I just started to do this myself at home and it’s SO easy. if you don’t know what dermaplaning is, it is essentially shaving your face. Ha! I don’t have a ton of hair however it’s really nice to have smooth skin. My products penetrate deeper and my makeup lays better. The hair on my face does NOT grow back darker, more full or prickly. Don’t worry ladies! 😉

Ice Roller – Kitsch Ice Roller: I’m a big fan of rolling/massaging the face. For one, it feels great! It also de-puffs the face (my favorite benefit), helps with lymphatic drainage and reduces redness from breakouts. I typically do this 3-4 times a week. I store it in my freezer, grab it in the morning when I’m making my coffee and roll out my face.

Gua Sha – Skin Gym Rose Quartz Gua Sha: The Gua Sha tool is new to me thanks to my girl, Mel (@thebeautynurse). I started using mine 6 months ago. It’s similar to the roller as it feels great! The benefits of Gua Sha are: tension relief, detoxifying, natural face life and glowing skin. I apply my Mara face oil before I use the tool. I highly suggest watching Mel’s Instagram highlight on how to do it.

Face Masks

Clearing (Acne) – One Love Organics Charcoal Masque or OSEA White Algae Mask: I use one if not both of these masks once a week for a little self-care. Sometimes I use the charcoal masque as a spot treatment for acne overnight.

Hydrating – Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask or PCA Skin Hydrating Mask: I’m always trying hydrating products and these two beauties are some of my favorite. They are “clean” and super moisturizing.

Eyes – Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Hydra-gel Eye Patches: These patches are my go-to for hydrating the under eye area. If I’m puffy or am feeling dry I pop these on for at least 20 minutes.
