Alright guys, it’s time to learn how to style a shelf like a pro! Today I’m sharing my office, or as I call it my ‘Babe Cave’, bookcase. I purchased this white a gold gem last month and have been SO happy with the quality and design. Click here to check it out! Below I’ve also linked numerous options, and many are budg-friendly. Depending on your style and size needs, there’s a shelf for you!
In this space, I wanted to use a bookcase as an opportunity to highlight some of my favorite bags, showcase the fall shoes I was currently wearing (i.e. boots) and have a dedicated spot for my makeup organizer. These three things are the more practical elements when thinking about what to put on the shelf but I also wanted to add in decor touches like: art, books, candles, blooms, crystals and more. My style may be different than yours, but I would suggest styling out your space with things that reflect YOU! Have fun with it!
Now that I know what I want to put on my shelf, let’s style it!
When styling anything in your home, it’s all about balance and symmetry. I knew a few of my bigger handbags needed a spot in my house, and the top shelf was the perfect place. The handles wouldn’t get smushed and I could see my pretty ladies every day! 🙂 Many of you have asked me about using dust bags. The short answer is, I don’t believe in them! LOL If I’m going to spend ALL of the moolah on an expensive bag, I want to see it! 🙂 In my opinion, they are pieces of art!
I used books in the middle three shelves to create spaces to set things on and/or frame. You’ll notice I balanced out these rows with books; placed in the center on the second shelf, each side of my makeup organizer on the third row and again in the middle on the 4th for my most fave hat. Books are a great way to create different levels and like I mentioned above, set things on like bags, hats and/or shoes. See images for how I utilized mine!
The bottom row was THE perfect height for shoes. Since it’s fall, I wanted to use this spot to organize and highlight my new kicks. Each season, I will switch them out for shoes I’m currently wearing. It’s a great way to see what you have, thus wearing your shoes more!
Now that all of the main items are placed, I start to fill in spaces with my favorite little goodies – blooms, candles and crystals. Lastly I found a few great spots for fun art prints and voila, my shelf is stylin’!!
