Hey there pregnant gals and soon-to-be expecting, ladies! I’ve been telling y’all I would do a rundown of my favorite items to wear during pregnancy and staple maternity wears. Some items I size up in regular fashions and others are basic maternity wears that are worth every penny! Now that I’ve had a chance to try out a bunch of different things on the bump, it’s time to give y’all the deets! Below I’ve also rounded up my maternity looks I’ve been wearing the past 6 months. If you’re interested in specific items from an outfit, click the bottom of the image to take you to LiketoKnow.it. Alright, let’s get to it!
Maternity Fashion Sites – Besides specific items listed below, I also wanted to include my favorite budget-friendly sites to find maternity fashions on. Check these out: ASOS Maternity, Boohoo Maternity, H&M Maternity, Pink Blush
Bras – When I first found out I was pregnant, by boobs were outta control! They had already grown an entire cup size, and not gonna lie, they ached realllll bad. I needed some to support these babies ASAP! No lace bralets were in my future! LOL I enlisted all of you via my Instagram story to see what brands y’all liked. I tried a few standouts and found, the seamless nursing bras from Maternity Motherhood were the winners! No underwire, with all of the stretch required for my growing tatas. Since they are nursing bras, I can also use them once the baby arrives. A win-win!
Underwear – If you’ve been pregnant or are, you know how important undergarments are. Comfort is key and my favorite thongs a la Pink are perfection. The material is uber stretchy and I love the thick band that sits on your hips. These are a great option as you grow.
Leggings – As many of you know, anything stretchy is the holy grail during pregnancy! I’ve found two types of leggings that are specific to maternity and worth the money. The first being the faux leather Spanx gems. These are great because you can dress them up or down. Since it’s fall, I’ve been pairing them with oversized sweaters and booties. The second pair is a less dressy, everyday option, from BLANQI. I’ve been living in these. I love how they shape and give the belly full support, acting as an undergarment too. Me and bump can’t live without these!
Jeans – Honestly, I was very reluctant to even try maternity jeans. I’ve had NO desire to wear them as I thought they would be SO uncomfortable. Well, I sure was wrong! The first budget friendly pair I tried from H&M, I loved! NO need to spend a bunch of moolah on designer denim. They are under $50 and come in a bunch of different wash options. You can’t go wrong with these.
Tanks – I’ve found that my body temp is higher with all the hormones pumping through me, so wearing tanks is where it’s at. My favorite option is from A Pea in a Pod – they are a great ribbed material, not overly stretchy and have an array of basic colors. I legit, have about 5 that I rotate through. These are great to wear under a tee or sweater for layering.
Activewear Leggings – I’ve been able to pretty much wear the workout leggings I had prior to expecting. As I’ve gotten bigger, I prefer high-waited pant options from Alo, Zella and Lulu Lemon.
Shapewear – If you’re wearing bodycon fashions or just need something to help hold everything in, Spanx mama shorts are the best!
Loungewear Sets – Pregnant or not, loungewear sets are where it’s at! I have found so many budget friendly beauties this past year. Click here for my current favorite pair – only $28! I got a M/L to have space for my bump. More cozy options below.
Dresses – In general, dresses are SO comfortable during pregnancy, especially if you’re one of those gals that doesn’t want anything on your belly. I’ve been sizing up to a L and wearing bodycon cotton basics, t-shirt and sweater dresses. I pair them with cute sneakers or booties. Scroll down to see my styled outfits and to shop!
Sweaters – I am SO thankful my third trimester is during fall! You can better believe I’m liiiiiiving in leggings and cozy sweaters. I haven’t purchased any maternity knits, rather sized up to a L in most brands.
Skirts – Elastic is my new best friend! I’ve found great cotton, pleated and knit skirt options that are comfortable on my waist. My favorite all-time skirt for preg is from Free People. I have two colors in a medium, pairing them with fun graphic tees tied above my waist. See pics below!
