Hey friends, when that deep chocolate craving hits but you still want something that supports healthy living, this Avocado Chocolate Mousse is my absolute go-to. It’s incredibly rich, silky, and decadent — yet made with simple, nourishing whole foods and clean ingredients that actually feel good for your body.
This dairy-free chocolate mousse proves you don’t need heavy cream or refined sugar for a classic treat. Instead, we’re using nourishing ingredients that bring natural sweetness and wholesome goodness.
2 large ripe avocados, pitted (make sure they’re soft and creamy)
5 Medjool dates, pitted
¼ cup coconut milk (or any milk of choice)
⅓ cup pure maple syrup
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
⅓ cup dark chocolate chips, melted
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Pinch of sea salt
1. Melt the chocolate: Gently melt the dark chocolate chips in the microwave (in 20-second intervals) or over a double boiler. Set aside.
2. Blend everything: Add the avocados, dates, coconut milk, maple syrup, cocoa powder, melted chocolate, vanilla, and salt to a high-power blender. Blend on high until completely smooth and silky, scraping down the sides as needed. This usually takes 1–2 minutes.
3. Taste & adjust: Give it a taste. Add a touch more maple syrup if you prefer it sweeter, or a splash more milk if it needs to loosen up.
4. Chill: Divide into small bowls or jars and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or up to a few hours) to let the flavors meld and the mousse set beautifully.
Top with fresh berries, cacao nibs, flaky sea salt, or a dollop of coconut whipped cream. It’s elegant enough for guests and simple enough for an everyday nourishing treat.
I blended this mousse in my go-to high-power blender that makes quick work of everything from smoothies to nut butters — it’s powerful, easy to clean, and a staple in my kitchen. You can find the exact one I use linked here.
For serving, I love using these cute stainless steel scalloped bowls. They add such a pretty, elevated touch while being practical and durable. I found them here and they’ve become one of my favorite ways to serve desserts and snacks.
I reach for this Avocado Chocolate Mousse because it’s a nourishing, dairy-free twist on a classic dessert. The ripe avocados provide healthy fats that keep you satisfied, while the sweet Medjool dates deliver natural sweetness with no refined sugar. Every ingredient is clean and intentional — supporting wellness without feeling restrictive.
It’s family-friendly too — my kids ask for seconds every single time! This is what healthy living is all about: beautiful, whole-food swaps that make nourishing your family feel joyful instead of limiting.
Keeps well in the fridge for up to 3 days in an airtight container.

From my kitchen with love, Kasey
