Hey there, guys! Come November, I’m all about cozying up in my home, sipping on hot cocoa and watching the snow fall. During the holidays I try to keep it as “clean” as possible when it comes to my eats/drinks. I wanted to create a dairy free hot cocoa recipe that I could enjoy once or twice a week.
This option is made up of 4 simple ingredients! I use oat milk because in my opinion, is the best non-dairy option packed with nutrition and tastes the creamiest. I pair it with pure cacao for the dark chocolate taste and a dash of maple syrup for a natural sweetener. Lastly the vanilla is the perfect final touch!
I typically top my hot chocolate with a non-diary whip cream – almond or coconut. Both are delicious! Finally sprinkle on crushed peppermint for a little crunch. See below for the ingredient list and steps to make your own. Enjoy!
2 Cups oat milk – I love this brand
2 Tablespoons cacao powder
1 teaspoon maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1. Place all four ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat.
2. Whisk for 3-4 minutes.
3. Pour into a mug and add your favorite toppings. Enjoy!
Note: I use almond or coconut whip cream – it’s delicious!
