Healthy Smoothie Details

I don’t know about y’all, but I’m ready to get back to eating CLEAN.  After Thanksgiving and traveling for the past week, it always feels good to get back in my routine.  I’ve made a pretty good effort during my clean November but still, it’s always nice to be home and having a bit more control over what I eat.

Today I’m sharing my favorite HEALTHY smoothie I created about two years ago.  I make it almost everyday of the week for my first meal around 11AM or for a snack at 3PM.  Its packed with protein, filled with nutrients and LOW in sugar!  It’s THE perfect well-balance meal/snack and great news, it’s gluten free!

In order to make smoothies, you need a legit blender.  I received my Waring beauty as a wedding gift 4+ years ago and it has not let me down!  It whips this shake into creamy perfection.  Here is my current favorite option: Waring Commercial Blender.  Remember, when it comes to kitchen items, invest in the things you will use daily such as a blender, crock pot, knives and pots/pans.  It’s worth it!

See below for details…

Ingredients

(makes 1 serving)

1 cup of ice

1/2 frozen banana

1 scoop of chocolate Paleo protein powder – I love Julian Bakery brand

1 cup of spinach

1 Tbsp unsweetened shredded coconut

1 tsp flax seeds

1 tsp chia seeds

1 tsp hemp seeds

1 Tablespoon almond butter

1 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk

Steps

1. Place all ingredients into blender.

2. Blend on 7/8 (med/high) until smoothie is creamy.  If smoothie is “stuck” add a bit more almond milk.

3. Pour into your glass and enjoy!

Optional – add a little gluten free granola to the top for a crunchy treat! 🙂
