Acne Product Details

Hey, guys! Have you ever struggled with acne? I mean, who hasn’t – right?! Since becoming pregnant I had to change up my daily skincare routine AND start searching for products that worked to prevent and combat acne. I’ve finally found 5 gems to help do just that!

During pregnancy, it’s recommended to steer clear from the two main acne fighting ingredients, salicylic acid and retinol (vitamin A). That being said all of my top 5 products are free of these two ingredients and free of parabens, sulfates and phthalates. As I’ve mentioned in previous pregnancy safe posts, I am not a doctor or skincare expert, but just a gal who is interested in keeping my skincare as clean as possible during pregnancy. Do what works for you!

Top 5 Acne Products

[1] Pimple Patches – I love to use these when I feel a pimple surfacing AND after one is popped! It helps to reduce redness and inflammation over night. I love that these waterproof patches cleanse your pores, reduce acne scarring and infection. I can’t say enough good things about these beauties! My hubs loves them too 😉 After I complete my nighttime skincare routine, I place one or more of these on any breakouts I have. I sleep in them and wake up with a smaller/dryed out pimple. Y’all are going to want these in your life!

[2] Face Mask – I use this mask once a week regardless of my breakout sitch. It’s not only great for detoxifying the face but it also rebalances and hydrates the skin with a prebiotic and probiotic. If you struggle with pores, this mask is for you!

[3] Azelaic Acid Serum – This product brightens the complexion while visibly improving the evenness of skin texture AND reducing the look of blemishes. The multifunctional formula acts as an effective antioxidant and offers a very high 10 percent concentration of high-purity azelaic acid. It works by killing bacteria found in pores and also stops the production of pigment in the skin, which is very important during pregnancy. Sign me up! I typically apply this serum in the evening.

[4] Niacinamide & Zinc Serum – Niacinamide (vitamin B3) reduces the appearance of skin blemishes and congestion. A high 10 percent concentration of this vitamin is supported in this formula by zinc PCA. Please note: If you use topical vitamin C as part of your skincare routine, you should apply it at an alternate times. Otherwise, niacinamide can affect integrity of pure-form vitamin C. Since I use vitamin C pads at night, I apply this product in the morning.

[5] Oil Free SPF – This is not a specific product to combat existing acne, but rather prevent it. I was told about the oil-free Elta MD brand of SPF products years ago by my dermatologist. Many face sunscreens clog pores and create acne, and this gem of a product does the opposite. It protects while not causing breakouts. YAS please! While pregnant, I opt to use the UV Elements Tinted Broad-Spectrum SPF 44 as it uses mineral sunscreen rather than chemical. Trust me, you will love to texture and tint! I apply it in the morning before applying makeup.
