Here we go again with another skincare post! I know, shocking… Now that I’m done having babies and breastfeeding, it’s time to GET ON IT! I love a laser but have been wanting to give microneedling a go. I’ve heard SO much about it, listened to podcasts and spent a good amount of time talking with my esthetician. Last month I finally tried it and I’m loving the results. Today I’m going to share what the procedure entails, benefits, recovery, cost, my experience and more!
It’s also called collagen induction therapy. Essentially the pen used for the procedure punctures the skin with tiny needles and stimulated collagen production. It is a minimally invasive treatment with little down time.
It addresses many skin issues: wrinkles, scarring, enlarged pores, uneven skin tone/texture, acne, stretch marks, skin pigmentation and loose skin.
In my experience no. However I was numbed 20 minutes before the procedure.
Overall it was easy. I was red AF and a bit swollen for the hours following the treatment. However the next day the redness decreased A LOT (see picture). I kept the area VERY hydrated for about 3 days and didn’t wear any makeup. After the first day it’s ok to wear makeup but I choose not to. At the one week mark my face began to flake/peel. First at my mouth and then worked its way toward my jaw and hairline. At the one month mark my skin was looking great! It takes that long for the collagen to start to build up.
One session was $200.
This really depends on your skin. I plan to do it a few more times this year and see where my skin is at since this is my first time.
In my experience, no. I waited until I was done. recommend asking your doctor.
